MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has promised to maintain a balanced competition among teams as the league opens its 2012-2013 season this coming Sunday.

“The fans have clearly spoken. They want fast-paced games and balanced competition among all 10 teams. Are we there? Not yet, but we’re getting there. You could see the likes of Barako, Air21 and Meralco who’ll be up there. Everything points to a very successful season,” said PBA commissioner Chito Salud in PBA.ph

Most of the ball clubs have made changes in either their line up or coaching staff to boost their respective campaigns this coming season.

Among the notable coaching changes are Norman Black’s take over of Talk ‘N Text and Olsen Racela stepping in for Ato Agustin at Petron Blaze.

Global Port (formerly Powerade) is bringing in new acquisitions Willie Miller, Mark Yee, Marvin Cruz, Vic Manuel, Angelus Raymundo, Alfred Mandani and Jason Deutchman. Coach Glenn Capacio will be calling the shots for the Batang Pier.

Ginebra San Miguel also tweaked its roster by acquiring LA Tenorio and Elmer Espiritu through trades and Chris Ellis and Keith Jensen.

“Our product is the game and the game is our product. We’ll continue striving to make our product to the liking of our fans,” Salud also said.
