MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle’s star forward Jeron Teng made no secret of who he wants the Green Archers to meet in the UAAP Season 76 Finals.
If he has his way, Teng wants the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers in the best-of-three Finals, a scenario that will see him face off against his older brother, Jeric.
“Sana nga talaga. ‘Yun talaga ang gusto ko,” the younger Teng answered when asked if he has considered the possibility of playing UST in the Finals.
“Siyempre, last year na ng brother ko, so we’ll play one more time,” he said.
The Tigers will play the top-seeded National University (NU) Bulldogs in a winner-take-all showdown this Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena, with UST aiming to be the first ever fourth-seed to overcome a twice-to-beat disadvantage in the semi-finals.
If UST triumphs, the Teng vs Teng clash will surely be the talk of the town leading up to Game 1 of the Finals.
“We’ve always been teammates before,” said Jeron. “Ngayon, bago naman, magkalaban.”
La Salle advanced to the UAAP Finals for the first time since Season 71 after beating Far Eastern University, 71-68, yesterday in the Final Four.
