MANILA, Philippines – Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez may consider hanging up his gloves if he can beat his greatest rival, Filipino ring icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, via a knockout in their fourth encounter.

Marquez and Pacquiao will meet for a fourth time on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas after their first three encounters failed to produce a decisive result.

“I want to knock him out,” Marquez told Boxing Scene. “I know I can do it, although I know that it won’t be easy.”

“If that happens, it could be the perfect moment to retire, but we will see what happens,” he added.

Marquez remains convinced that he is the rightful winner of all three fights, but believes only a knockout will guarantee his victory.

“I’ve already beaten him three times and had those victories taken from me,” he said. “A knockout is the only way to take the decision from the judges’ hands.”

Pacquiao and Marquez battled to a draw in their first meeting in 2004, before the Filipino icon took the next two fights via controversial decisions.

But Marquez is determined that the fourth fight will have a different outcome.

“I want to have my hand raised to prove which one of us is the better fighter,” he said.
