Bisping apologetic over injury
MANILA, Philippines –MMA fighter Michael Bisping rued having to sit out his supposed middleweight clash against Mark Munoz in UFC Fight Night 30.
Bisping suffered a detached retina, which went unnoticed during his previous two fights against Vitor Belfort and Alan Belcher.
The Briton had it repaired last April, but it re-detached again and this forced him out of the Muñoz fight.
"To everyone involved in the fight, I wholeheartedly apologize," Bisping said in MMA Fighting.
Bisping said the thought of having a possible career-ending injury hit him hard.
"[I'm] devastated," Bisping said. “When the injury regressed to where I literally couldn't see my hand in front of my face, that's when I thought, okay, that is enough."
The Briton again underwent surgery and would have to stay away from training for at least here months.
Bisping, who has been after the UFC middleweight title, vowed to come back stronger in 2014.
