Marquez will need a KO to win, says Bradley
MANILA, Philippines – Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez will need to win by stoppage if he wants to defeat Timothy Bradley Jr. in their welterweight clash, the unbeaten American said recently.
Bradley will defend his WBO welterweight title against Marquez on October 12 in Las Vegas, and he is 100% confident of victory.
“I’m going to win,” Bradley said in a Boxing Scene interview. “If it goes 12 rounds, I’m going to win the fight, without a doubt.”
“I keep telling everybody that if he doesn’t knock me out, he’s going to win,” he added.
The American said he has already informed Marquez of this.
“I told Marquez to his face: If you don’t knock me out, you’re not going to win. There’s no way you’re going to outpunch me,” he said.
Bradley said it was unlikely that the 40-year-old Marquez will throw more punches than him come fight time.
“I’m outpunching younger fighters,” Bradley said. “He’s 40 years old. He’s going to throw 1,000 punches? I doubt it. We’ll see.”
