No Ariza? No problem, Pacquiao brings back Fortune
MANILA – With Alex Ariza’s departure from Team Pacquiao, the Filipino boxing superstar is set to reunite with his former conditioning coach as he prepares for the Brandon Rios fight.
According to Nick Giongco’s Fight News report, Justine Fortune, who has worked with Manny Pacquiao in the past, was tapped to help the Filipino with his conditioning requirements.
Fortune was Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach from 2003 to 2007. He left Team Pacquiao after a falling out with the Filipino’s boxing trainer Freddie Roach.
Michael Koncz said Roach and Fortune recently patched things up, paving the way for the conditioning coach’s reunification with Pacquiao.
Ariza, who helped Pacquiao complete eight world title wins, was recently released from Team Pacquiao after he failed to get along with Roach.
The Colombian strength coach then teamed up with Mexican-American Brandon Rios who is set for a November 24 fight date with Pacquiao.
