Pacquiao admits losing focus in recent fights
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao admitted that his skills have suffered lately because of his various commitments outside boxing.
He said this is the reason his team has decided to hold most of his training camp for his fight against Juan Manual Marquez in Los Angeles.
"Yes, I will be focusing more on training for this fight even to the extent of killing myself at the training camp," Pacquiao told Philboxing’s Eddie Alinea. He also vowed to be more focused on boxing.
The fighting congressman has noticeably slowed down in his last few fights.
Pacquiao admitted that his performances may have been hampered by his “extra-curricular” activities.
"Nitong mga huling laban ko, marami na akong involvement sa iba't-ibang linyang napasukan ko. Nandyan ang entertainment, TV host at pulitika. Medyo hindi naging focused ang paghahanda," he said.
(These past fights, I’ve been involved in different lines of work. There’s entertainment, TV hosting and politics. I lost my focus in training).
Pacquiao promised to unveil the “old Pacquiao” when he fights Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8.
He said he wants to regain the killer form that knocked down Marquez three times in 2004.
" We’ll relive the memorable moments in my career by turning back the hands of time when training camp is just like that, training camp. Walang distractions, puro paghahanda (No distractions, just training)," said Pacquiao.
