Donaire wants to avoid Nishioka's tricks
MANILA, Philippines – Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. said he and his team have come out with a game plan that will beat the crafty Japanese champion Toshiaki Nishioka.
Donaire, the unified World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) 122-pound king, said they have devised a plan so he wouldn’t get trapped by Nishioka’s tricks in the ring.
“Nishioka has power and he knows how to set it up. He’s a veteran and knows the tricks that can frustrate a fighter - that’s what we don’t want to fall into. We have a great game plan and we are ready for whatever it is,” the Filipino boxer said in Philboxing.
Donaire said he expects Nishioka to land his power left straight that the Japanese boxer used on most of his victims.
The Filipino boxer said he will make sure that the Japanese southpaw won’t be able to connect flush with his left.
“One thing he will try to do is land the straight that is difficult to do against me. Aside from that, I haven’t seen any tape that he can do damage with,” said Donaire.
The Filipino Flash added that he will revert back to his old ways of boxing, which involved picking his opponents apart before going for the kill.
“The proper game plan will show my power which is what I was known for – lightning fast counters that were knocking people out because they never saw it coming. No matter how tough you are, if you don’t see where it’s coming from, you don’t expect it and it will knock you down.”
