Rios tells detractors: I'm no tune-up of Pacquiao
MANILA – Mexican slugger Brandon Rios reacted to speculations that he is just being used to make Manny Pacquiao look good.
“Those are the critics that are always going to talk [expletive], saying that I’m a tune up fight for Pacquiao or to get him back in the rankings,” the Mexican-American said in Hustle Boss.
Rios also bashed critics who claim that his unpolished brawling style would make him vulnerable to a faster puncher like Pacquiao.
The Texas-based fighter said he won’t allow himself to serve as a tune-up fight Pacquiao.
“But I ain't nobody’s tune-up fight. I ain't no tune-up fight and I ain't no punching bag. They’re going to find [out] something different.”
Rios is currently working with Pacquiao’s former strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza for the November 24 bout.
Ariza said the Mexican boxer will show improvements in speed and power once they get through their conditioning regimen.
