Former NBA all-star Francis arrested at Los Angeles airport
LOS ANGELES – Three-time NBA all-star Steve Francis has been arrested at a Los Angeles airport for being drunk, police said.
Airport spokesman Albert Rodriguez says Francis was arrested Thursday evening because he was intoxicated and abusive towards staff.
The 33-year-old Francis spent the night in jail before being released Friday on 10,000 dollars bail.
Francis was an all-star in 2002, 2003 and 2004. But his career has been marked by questionable decisions and he was waived by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2009.
Francis was drafted second overall out of college by the Vancouver Grizzlies but never played a game there saying he wanted to play in a bigger NBA market. Vancouver traded him to Houston in a three-team, 11 player deal in August 1999.
He is scheduled to appear in court on November 5.
