Petron's Fajardo thanks RoS for tough semis hurdle
MANILA – Petron Blaze’s Junmar Fajardo thanked Rain or Shine for giving him a tough time during their semifinals clash in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
Fajardo, who averaged 14.7 points and 12.5 rebounds in their race-to-three series with the Elasto Painters, said their physical encounter helped him prepare for his team’s finals date with San Mig Coffee.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa Rain or Shine saka kay Beau [Belga], pini-physical nila kami, pero ang dami naming natutunan, so tingin ko magagamit namin yun [in the Finals],” Fajardo told Spin.ph’s Richard Dy.
Petron eliminated defending champions Rain or Shine, 3-1, to make its first finals appearance under its new head coach Gee Abanilla.
Fajardo said they may have won three games to one against the Elasto Painters, but they fought tooth and nail to notch each victory.
“Grabe ang dinanas namin na physical. Napagod kami kaya itong experience namin dito, madadala namin,” he said.
Petron will start its best-of-seven finals series with San Mig Coffee on Friday.
The Mixers eased out the Meralco Bolts in the other semis series, 3-1, to grab a finals berth.
