Despite the four-inch height advantage and the longer reach that his opponent enjoys, Manny Pacquiao said Sunday that he is now developing a fighting system that would effectively be used against Oscar de la Hoya come December 6.
"I am very happy that coach Freddie has pointed out to me Oscar Dela Hoya's strengths and weaknesses and in just one week, we are already trying to perfect a fighting system that we will use against this legendary fighter," Pacquiao wrote in his online column, "Kumbinasyon," on Philboxing.com.
Pacquiao said that while he cannot divulge the details of his training, he is confident of bringing home a victory not only for himself but for the entire Philippines.
"I am really confident that our chances of winning gets revealed to me easy and already analyzed," he said, citing Roach's experience in handling de la Hoya in the past.
Though he and Roach already have a system in place to use against de la Hoya, Pacquiao said a lot of work has yet to be done.
Pacquiao added that he and coach Freddie Roach are doing training routines that they have not done in the past seven years of preparations.

No mismatch, sir
Pacquiao, the Philippines' boxing idol and reigning World Boxing Council lightweight champ, also assured fans that there will be no mismatch in the 147-pound welterweight super bout.
The boxer, meanwhile, said that so far, he's feeling good about the training at Roach's Wild Card gym in Hollywood.
"I feel good and training camp has been running smoothly so far. Everyone in my team is inspired and everything is turning out well."

He also relished he fact that for the first time in his career, he is not going on a diet to make the weight.
Pacquiao said that the pounds shed during training is immediately replenished by food though he assured fans that he remains bent on keeping his primary advantage against de la Hoya -- his speed.
Pacquiao and de la Hoya go up against one another in the epic battle that has been dubbed "The Dream Match" on December 6, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
