After losing in the recently-concluded World Cup Pool, World No. 1 billiard player Dennis “Robocop” Orcollo vowed to bounce back through this year’s Guinness 9-Ball Tour Grand Finals.

“I’m very disappointed that we weren’t able to fulfill our mission of winning the World Cup, and I blame myself for it,” said Orcollo in a report posted on SportsNews.ph.

The Filipino duo of Orcollo and Francisco 'Django' Bustamante tried to reclaim the World Cup but lost to eventual champions Shane van Boening and Rodney Morris of the US, 9-6.

“With that, I promise to improve my game even more, and I’ll do my best to win more titles for our country,” added Orcollo.

He has so far won a string of major tournaments this year -- the San Miguel Beer-Quezon City 9-Ball Championship, the All-Japan Open, the 2008 Qatar International 9-Ball Open and China leg of the 2008 Guinness Tour.

The 29-year-old Bugsy Promotions stalwart is among the four Filipinos who made it into the Top 10 of the 2008 Guinness Tour.

Orcollo is ranked seventh, while Singapore leg winner Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan is ranked fourth. The other two are Joven Bustamante at fifth and Antonio Gabica at ninth.

Orcollo and his Filipino comrades will be facing a tough challenge against their counterparts from Taiwan who occupy the upper ranks of the Top 10.

At the highest spot is Chan Jung-Lin, who reigned supreme during three out of the legs of the tournament. He won first place in Genting and Penang, Malaysia. He was also triumphant during the tour’s stop in his hometown of Taipei.

Following Chan are fellow Taiwanese Yang Ching-Shun and Wang Hung-Hsiang at second and third ranks, respectively.

The lowest-ranked Taiwanese in the Top 10 list is sixth placer Wu Chia-ching, who won second place at the recently concluded World 10-Ball Championship in Manila.

The Guinness 9-Ball Grand Finals is scheduled to take place in Jakarta, Indonesia from October 24 to 26.
