Three boxers from Cebu's ALA Gym were in Manila recently for their scheduled interview at the US embassy for their scheduled training in the Las Vegas camp of Floyd Mayweather Sr.

ALA Gym president Michael Aldeguer said that Michael Domingo and Z Gorres applied for a renewal of their US visas. This would be Mark Jason Melligen's first time to travel to the US.

He said that both Domingo and Melligen will stay between four and six months in Vegas. They are also set to fight for at least two occasions.

Domingo said that he would want to fight some more while he is still at the peak of his career.

“I’m not getting young anymore and this chance could be a make-or-break thing for me so this is probably the best opportunity for me,” he told Sportsnews.ph.

Last year, Domingo made a successful debut and beat top-ranked Miguel Roman in one of the six fights of the "RP vs Mexico World Cup of Boxing" in Sacramento.

Melligen, meanwhile, is coming off back-to-back KO knockout victories done during the first round.

“My friends are telling me I may be homesick in a few weeks time in the US but that’s the least of my concerns since my priority in life right now is my career. The best chance for me to improve is to train the in the US with all the quality opponents and sparring partners available there,” Melligen said.

While the training camp has been set up with Mayweather, Aldeguer said they are still searching for trainers.

Aldeguer said they have Freddie Roach as their number one choice but he would have his hands full of training Manny Pacquiao for the December 6 megabuck clash with Oscar de la Hoya.

He said that they would not want to get in the way of Roach's program for Pacquiao since the welterweight super bout is considered "too crucial."

Aldeguer said that Domingo and Rey "Boom Boom" Villamore are set to leave with trainer Edito Villamor for the US on October 28 to set up camp.

Gorres and Melligen, meanwhile, may leave by the first week of next month. With Sportsnews.ph
