MANILA, Philippines - San Beda, long considered the school with the best high school ball program in the land, kept its dominant run, waylaying San Sebastian, 83-58, for a fourth straight championship and 20th title overall in the NCAA juniors basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum yesterday.

Super rookie Javee Mocon came through with a double-double game while former national youth standouts Arvin Tolentino and Andrei Caracut put in 13 points each as the Red Cubs completed a two-game sweep of the Staglets.

San Beda underscored its reputation as the league’s most dominant team with 20 crowns, two more than the harvest of the Mapua Red Robins.

The Red Cubs handed the school its first ever four-peat feat making their conquest of the Staglets extra special.

“It makes the win more meaningful,” said coach Britt Reroma.

Mocon proved to be the biggest thorn for the Staglets with the 17-year-old player delivering double-double numbers in both Games One and Two.

A transferee from San Benildo in Antipolo, Mocon churned out 10 points and 11 rebounds in a follow-up to his monster 15-point, 17-rebound effort in the series opener.

“He (Mocon) is really a game-changer. I kept saying that all season long because he’s really like that, a game-changer,” said Reroma.

Caracut also made his presence felt with 13 points, seven caroms and three assists while Tolentino helped with 13 points and six rebounds.

Mocon, however, easily stood out.
