MANILA, Philippines – UFC middleweight champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva hinted that if he ever fights light-heavyweight king Jon "Bones" Jones, it will be at a catchweight with neither of their title belts on the line.

A mega-fight between Silva and Jones is in high demand among mixed martial arts fans, especially in light of the two fighters’ dominant runs in their respective divisions.

But both Silva and Jones have repeatedly expressed that they have no desire to fight each other, citing mutual respect. Silva has also pointed out that there are members of his team who may end up facing Jones in the future.

In a report from ESPN UK, however, it seems that "The Spider" is now considering the Jones fight.

"I wouldn't like it, but if it's going to happen, it would have to be at a catchweight," Silva said. "His belt would not be on the line. I already have my title, I don't want my title to be on the line."

Silva recently fought at light-heavyweight, defeating former title contender Stephan Bonnar via a first-round technical knockout at UFC 153 in Rio de Janeiro. After the bout, he insisted that he does not want to fight at the 205-pound division again.

But "The Spider" acknowledged that there is a mounting clamor for him to fight Jones.

"Lots of people talk about it, and some of those are UFC employees. It’s obvious, I might say that I don't want it, but if he (Jones) accepts the money (UFC president) Dana (White) offers him? It's going to get tough," Silva admitted.

"But it isn't the cash that makes me do what I do. I fight because I like it," he added.

Silva has been hoping to fight welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre in what will also be a battle of top fighters, although White has insisted that he can convince the Brazilian legend to meet Jones inside the Octagon.

"The Spider" is considered one of the greatest fighters in history. He is undefeated at the UFC with a 16-0 record and has defended his middleweight belt a record 10 times.
