Arum hopes to wrap Donaire-Arce deal soon
'Money issue' hampering the bout
MANILA, Philippines – Boxing promoter Bob Arum said he hopes to tie up the loose ends of the potential bout between Nonito Donaire and Jorge Arce so they can announce the fight in the next few days.
"We are working on it. Hopefully we'll be able to work things out by Wednesday or Thursday," Arum, CEO of Top Rank Inc., told Boxing Scene’s Ronnie Nathanielsz.
Arum said they already have the December 15 date for the two boxers with the fight is tentatively set at Arce’s turf in Mexico.
The Mexican brawler, however, appears to be demanding a price “that he deserves.”
"I would be happy to take that fight but I hope I get the price [I'm asking for]. I'm not asking for the pearls of the virgin. I'm demanding just what I think the fight is worth," Arce earlier said.
Donaire was supposed to fight Arce this month. But the Mexican reportedly overpriced himself out of the fight, forcing Donaire to take on Toshiaki Nishioka instead.
