Marquez starts sparring sessions for 4th Pacman fight
Nacho brings in left-handed sparring partners
MANILA, Philippines – Mexican counter-puncher Juan Manuel Marquez is entering the next phase of his training for the Manny Pacquiao fight.
His coach, legendary trainer Nacho Beristain, said he and his boxer have already finalized their strategy for the fourth Pacquiao fight.
Beristain said they plan to test their plans on Marquez’s sparring partners.
"Juan and I met to outline the road map to follow. We agreed that [today] we'll begin the hard work for this fight. [Today] we will start boxing with sparring partners, and do a total of six rounds," he said in a Boxing Scene report.
Beristain has already tapped 4 southpaw boxers who will try to mimic Pacquiao’s movements.
"Ramses Rodriguez and Daniel Santillo, they will put up with Juan's punches for several days. Then two more left handed assistants will arrive to take over their job," he said.
Beristain said he plans to put Marquez through a total of 120 rounds of sparring for the fourth Pacquiao fight.
The two warriors are due to meet for the fourth time on December 8.
Pacquiao himself has begun his sparring sessions for the fight.
He already pummeled sparring partner Anthony “Rocky” Marcial, forcing the Filipino welterweight to quit after three rounds.
