Pacquiao 'just another opponent' for Rios
MANILA, Philippines – Former lightweight champion Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios is no longer intimidated by Filipino ring icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, calling the eight-division world champion “just another opponent in front of me.”
In an interview with Hustle Boss, Rios admitted that back when he was competing at lightweight and Pacquiao was plowing through opponents, the Filipino legend would have beaten him.
“I’ll admit it right now, I said at that time if we ever fought, Pacquiao would (expletive) me up,” Rios said. “At that time, I said that.”
But things are different today as Rios believes that he now has what it takes to defeat Pacquiao.
“I think he’s getting older. I’m young, and I got more experience, more knowledge now,” said Rios. “I think it’s the opposite now. I think I can take him out.”
Moreover, Rios said he is not scared even if Pacquiao is one of the most popular boxers in the planet.
“There’s no emotion at all,” said Rios. “I’m not scared, I’m not excited. I’m ready to fight. To me, it’s just another opponent in front of me.”
“Just because he has a big name, that don’t mean sh*t to me,” he added.
Rios and Pacquiao will face off on November 24 in Macau.
