Undermanned Green Archers blank Dolphins
MANILA – The undermanned Green Archers United routed Dolphins United, 4-0, to take control of Group E in the 2013 United Football League (UFL) Cup last Tuesday at the Emperador Stadium.
Gab Olowoyeye got the ball rolling for GAU as he netted in just two minutes, followed by a Jesus Melliza goal in the 13th minute.
Four minutes later, Chieffy Caligdong made it 3-0, and Jesse Martindale completed the rout in the second half when he scored at the 55th minute.
The win was especially impressive as the Green Archers were missing Arnie Pasinabo, Tating Pasilan and Jovanie Simpron, who had suited up for the national team, the Muzangs, in the AFF Futsal Cup in Bangkok.
The Green Archers now top Group E with six points, while the Dolphins are tied with Blue Guards FC at the bottom of the group.
Blue Guards lost their second consecutive match in embarrassing fashion. After being routed by the Green Archers, 17-0, in their first game, they were crushed by Philippine Navy, 10-0, last Tuesday.
Navy scored four goals in the first half with Noel Reyes conceding an own goal for Blue Guards, and added six more after the break to gain full points.
