Korean national rules P10M Poker Tour leg
MANILA, Philippines - Korean national Sim Yung-som banked on his massive stack all throughout his stint on the final table to capture the sixth leg of the P10 million Philippine Poker Tour (PPT) early Wednesday morning at the Squeeze Poker Club in Dau, Mabalacat, Pampanga.
With an imposing 3 to 1 chip lead going into his head-to-head showdown with local bet Fernando De Guzman, the 29-year-old online gamer from Seoul never even had a single scary moment in winning the P362,900 top prize and a seat in the Final Table of Champions to be held at the end of the10-stop nationwide series in March.
Sim, a poker pro of five years whose biggest payout prior to this event was a third place finish in the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) in Cebu two years ago, grinded De Guzman so bad that the 30-year-old cell phone technician from Dau was forced to move all-in with an off suit Ks 7h with his remaining 450,000 chips which the Korean readily called with Ad 9c.
De Guzman settled for the P198,400 second prize money. Finishing third was Swedish events manager Alex Jovica.
