MANILA, Philippines – Conditioning coach Angel Hernandez believes Juan Manuel Marquez will be more prepared and better conditioned in his fourth clash against Manny Pacquiao.
It was Hernandez who helped Marquez achieve optimum conditioning for the third Pacquiao fight last November, which saw the Mexican nearly scoring an upset against the Filipino superstar.
Hernandez will be working with the Mexican for the fourth Pacquiao fight.
"If you thought that you saw a tremendous performance in November, then I can tell you that right now, already, [Marquez is] looking tremendously much sharper," said Hernandez in RingTV shortly after the fourth bout was announced.
Hernandez, a graduate of Texas A&M's exercise science program, has earlier admitted to have supplied performance enhancing drugs to former track stars Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery. He was, however, never was convicted of any crime.
Hernandez insisted that he used state-of-the-art conditioning techniques in putting Marquez in superior shape for the November fight.
He said they will be unveiling a very well-conditioned Marquez for the December 8 fight.
"He's going to be a faster, stronger, better puncher this time. We feel like Marquez is going to be way, way better than he was the last time that he faced Pacquiao. He's looking great. He's going to be way faster and a way better puncher. So, definitely, he's going to be better overall," he said.
