Two Filipino cue masters failed in their bid to win the Guinness 9-ball Tour Grand Finals in Jakarta, Indonesia Sunday as they lost in their respective semi-final matches against their opponents who are both from Chinese-Taipei.
World 10-Ball runner-up Wu Chia Ching won over Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan, 9-6, in the first semi-final match.
Dennis “Robocop” Orcollo, current world number one and ruler of the Tour’s Guangzhou leg, meanwhile lost his semifinal match to Yang Chin Sun, who ranked number two in the tournament’s order of merit. Yang won 9-5 in what was reported to be a tension-filled match.
Wu, who placed second against UK’s Darren Appleton at the World 10-Ball Championships, will now face Yang at the Finals for the $36,000 top prize.
