Corteza finishes 4th in US Open 9-Ball

MANILA – Lee Van “The Slayer” Corteza was the best Filipino finisher in the 2009 US Open 9-Ball Championship as he posted an overall 4th place.
Corteza, a Southeast Asian Games gold medalist, took home $7,000 as the overall 4th placer, BilliardPhilippines.com reported.
“The Slayer” lost to Mika “The Iceman” Immonen of Finland, 8-11, in the losers’ brackets.
Immonen and American Donnie Mills will duel to land a spot in the final. German Ralf Souquet earlier made it to the final by defeating Mills, 11-10.
Other Filipino cue artists who competed at the Chesapeake Conference Center in Chesapeake, Virginia were Ronnie Alcano, Warren Kiamco, Marlon Manalo, Jose Parica, Ramil Gallego, Al Lapena and Roberto Gomez.
