Roach expects Pacquiao to end Marquez saga

MANILA, Philippines - Five-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach is confident that pound-for-pound king Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao will end his saga with rival Juan Manuel Marquez once and for all in their third meeting on November 12.

"We have a great game plan, and Manny will execute it perfect," he said in an interview with On the Ropes Boxing Radio.

Roach did not divulge what Pacquiao was doing to prepare for Marquez, only saying that the Filipino champion has been "on fire" during training camp.

"We didn't have any distractions at all, which is kind of unusual. He's very focused... He's boxing very intensely," Roach said.

Roach does not expect this third encounter to last the full 12-rounds, unlike the first two meetings between Pacquiao and Marquez.

They fought to a controversial draw in 2004 and their 2008 rematch ended in a close split decision victory for Pacquiao.

"Marquez always gave us trouble, but that was the old Manny Pacquiao," Roach said. "That was Manny Pacquiao who just had a left hand, Manny Pacquiao who could only move in one direction, and Manny's really come a long way since they fought."

"I think Manny's skills that he has now are going to be overwhelming, and I don't see this fight lasting too long."

In an interview with RingTV.com, Roach was more specific, saying, "I don't think that it will last 6 rounds."
