Even US senator wants Pacquiao's endorsement

MANILA, Philippines — It's not only in the Philippine elections where politicians seek the endorsement of the country's boxing idol, 7-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.
Even a US senator is tapping Pacquiao to help boost his re-election to the US Senate, with the polls scheduled on November 2.
According to Fox5Vegas.com, Pacquiao will be among the "heavyweight" endorsers of Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada.
Reid has already received backing from US Sen. Al Franken, US Labor Secretary Hilda Solis and US First Lady Michelle Obama.
The US senator is reportedly banking on Pacquiao's celebrity status as seen in the Filipino boxer's sellout crowds whenever he fights in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The report said the boxing champion will join the senator at an early vote rally on Friday night (Saturday in Manila) at Orr Middle School in Las Vegas.
However, it is not clear if Pacquiao has confirmed his attendance at the rally. The pound-for-pound king is busy training for his upcoming fight against Antonio Margarito on November 13.
Pacquiao is a legislator himself, having been elected as the Philippines' lone representative of the province of Sarangani.

Pacquiao and Las Vegas Politics
Manny, Huwag ka sanang sumawsaw sa U.S. politics. American politics is different from Filipino politics. There will be negative effects if you endorse a politician in Nevada. Baka magkaroon ng "backlash" sa mga humahanga at sumusuporta sayo dito sa U.S.A. ISA na ako doon.
Manny, Stay Out Of U. S. Politics
Manny has no business involving himself in U. S. politics, especially by endorsing the corrupt and unpopular Harry Reid. As Filipinos would be offended if foreigners involved themselves in politics here, most Americans, including me, will be greatly offended if he gets involved in politics there by endorsing Harry Reid. He will lose many fans if he does. Please don't do it Manny.

Can Pacman be allowed to endorse a foreign candidate or a US candidate? I think a foreigner is not allowed to join politics. Endorsing and joining a political party might be illegal. Anyway, Pacman endorsed Manny Villar and the latter lost. Senator Reid should watch out.
