Stallion, Air Force advance in UFL Cup
MANILA, Philippines – Stallion FC and the Philippine Air Force are through to the round of 16 of the United Football League (UFL) Cup after winning their respective matches last October 27.
Stallion beat Bright Star FC 3-1, with Reuben Doctora Jr. scoring the opening goal in the ninth minute and Bo Bae Park doubling up the lead in the 20th.
Vaseeba Toure pulled one back for Bright Star just before the break, but Jeremy Taylor Hohn clinched the victory for Stallion after netting at the 89th minute.
Stallion now have six points in Group C, just behind Cebu Queen City United with seven points.
Air Force also advanced to the round of 16 after blanking Agila FC, 3-0, behind goals from Neckson Leonora, Ian Araneta and Randy Bela-Ong.
Air Force also have six points in Group C and will join Stallion and Cebu Queen City in the next round.
In other matches, Loyola blasted Navy, 9-0, with Phil Younghusband netting six goals for his squad.
Loyola are tied with Green Archers for the lead in Group E with six points, and both squads advanced to the round of 16.
Meanwhile, Dolphins United routed Blue Guards FC, 11-1. Abdou Moussa Obono scored a hat-trick for Dolphins United, while Jerome Cuyos had a brace.
Roger Sulit scored the lone goal for Blue Guards, who have lost all three games in Group E by double-digit goals.
