MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has clarified that the Azkals won’t be having an exhibition match against Timnas Indonesia before the 2012 Suzuki Cup.

PFF president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta said the only November date they have arranged for the Azkals is the friendly game against Singapore Lions in Cebu, which will take place on November 15.

“We will only play Singapore on November 15,” texted Araneta in reply to the supposed exhibition game against Indonesia.

Sports website Asean Football earlier reported that the Indonesian Football Association has confirmed a November 9 friendly against the Azkals.

Bob Hippy, Indonesian national team coordinator, said the exhibition game against the Philippines is important in the Timnas’ final tune up for the 2012 Suzuki Cup.

“It is the final test for the players and also for the coach to assess the level of the team before he decides on the list of 22 players,” said Hippy.

The Azkals were supposed to face Timnas in a rematch last September. The game, however, was shelved after the the teams could not reach an agreement regarding the game’s playdate.

The Philippines held Indonesia to a 2-2 draw in a highly charged exhibition match at the Rizal memorial Stadium last June.
