Barako Bull trades Monfort for Labagala
MANILA, Philippines – A day after Barako Bull gave Rajko Toroman the pink slip, the PBA approved the Energy Cola’s move to trade Emman Monfort for Ginebra’s seldom used guard Rob Labagala.
The office of PBA commissioner Chito Salud issued a statement on the trade, which was likely agreed upon during the board of directors' planning session in Sydney, Australia.
“The proposed trade between Ginebra's Rob Labagala and Barako Bull's Eman Monfort has been approved by the PBA,” the league said through its official Twitter account.
Although averaging 10 points per game, the former Ateneo standout got injured twice in the recently concluded 2012-2014 PBA season.
Labagala is likely to get more playing time under Barako Bull as he had to settle for limited minutes behind more established Ginebra guards LA Tenorio, Jayjay Helterbrand and Josh Urbiztondo.
Just last Wednesday, the Barako Bull management let go of its active consultant Rajko Toroman.
It was a surprising move for the Energy Cola, which hired the Serbian coach during the early part of 2012.
