Anticipation ramps up for Sunday's annual PBA draft
MANILA, Philippines – Excitement is brewing as basketball fans anticipate the annual PBA draft proceedings that will take place at the Robinsons Place Ermita in Manila on Sunday.
Leading the 79 rookie candidates are the top three picks in big men Greg Slaughter, Ian Sangalang and Raymond Almazan.
Barangay Ginebra is expected to draft Slaughter, while San Mig Coffee and Rain or Shine will go for Sangalang and Almazan, respectively.
Meanwhile, Barako Bull is reportedly wheeling and dealing its No. 4, 5 and 6 picks.
According to Spin.ph, the Energy Cola wanted to deal its No. 4 pick for Ginebra's Dylan Ababou and its No. 5 pick for Petron's Mark Isip and Magi Sison.
Barako Bull is also trading its No. 6 pick for GlobalPort's Denok Miranda.
PBA commissioner Chito Salud has yet to issue a decision regarding the trades.
Also among this year’s PBA aspirants are 2013 UAAP MVP Terrence Romeo, 2010 UAAP MVP RR Garcia, UST’s Jeric Teng, Arellano U’s James Forrester, Adamson University’s Alex Nuyles and Ateneo’s Ryan Buenafe and Nico Salva.
The PBA draft proceedings will begin at 4 p.m.
