University of Batangas nabs NCAA chess crown
MANILA, Philippines -- University of Batangas (UB) reigned supreme in the NCAA South 2013 chess tournament at the First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) campus in Tanauan City, Batangas.
The Batanguenos nabbed the overall title after topping the men's, women's and the high school girls divisions of the tournament.
UB won the men's senior division with 16 match points to go with its 29.5 board points. Perpetual came in second with 15 match points and 29.0 board points.
In the women's division, UB tallied 13 match points and 25.0 board points to walk away with the title. De La Salle Lipa came second with 11 match points and 22.5 board points.
UB also won the high school girls division chess champion with 8 match points and 13.5 board points. FAITH, on the other hand settled for second place after accumulating 5 Match Point and 10.5 Board Points.
