Bisping frustrated with Sonnen's title shot
MANILA, Philippines – English fighter Michael "The Count" Bisping admits he is getting frustrated after watching former middleweight contender Chael Sonnen get yet another shot at an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) title.
Bisping lost to Sonnen when they fought in the undercard of UFC on FOX via a disputed decision, which led to Sonnen getting a shot at the UFC's middleweight title.
It was the American's second title shot. He would lose via knockout to champion Anderson Silva, but a few months later, it was announced that Sonnen would get to fight light-heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones for the title.
"It's frustrating because I've been waiting for my whole career for a title shot, and the guy (Sonnen) has had three out of his last five fights be title fights," Bisping admitted in an interview with ESPN.
Bisping understands why Sonnen got the title shots.
"I can understand it from a business perspective, because Chael sells," he said.
Still, the Briton hopes he will soon get his chance to fight for a belt. He is set to face Brazilian legend Vitor Belfort in January, with the winner likely getting a shot against Silva.
Bisping is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Brian Stann at UFC 152 last September.
