LOS ANGELES, California – Filipino fight king Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao took the time to congratulate United States President Barack Obama on his re-election to a second term before hitting the gym for 13 rounds of mitts.

“Congrats sa kanya,” said Pacquiao, who is hard at work at the Wild Card Gym.

Now that the elections are over, fight fans can focus on a December filled with Filipino-Mexican boxing rivalries, which Pacquiao will kick off with his pay-per-view rematch against rival Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8.

“Nagkataon lang na maraming boksingero na Pilipino, maraming boksingero na Mexicano na kapareho ng timbang,” Pacquiao said.

Marquez is training in Mexico alongside Jorge Arce and both men are being coached by legendary Mexican trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain.

The week after the Pacquiao-Marquez fight, Arce will battle Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire in a super bantamweight clash.

Adding fuel to December’s Filipino-Mexican boxing wars, undefeated Cebuano Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta is expected to fight Mexican Miguel Vazquez for a lightweight title on the undercard of the Pacquiao-Marquez fight.

Pacquiao said that even though there is national pride at stake, Filipino fighters do not feel the pressure.

“May pressure sa bawat isa, pero hindi naman namin mina-mind ‘yan, dahil ensayado kami. Ready kami magbigay ng magandang laban sa mga fans,” he said.

While Pacquiao is scheduled for another sparring session, Donaire will join Arce in a press conference in Houston on Thursday.
