MANILA, Philippines – Light heavyweight contender Dan Henderson said he has been tapped to fight former champion Lyoto Machida in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 156 early next year.

Henderson, who is recuperating from a knee injury, said his battle with Machida may take place on February 2.

"I can tell you what I know," Henderson said in ESPN. "I was told that it should be Super Bowl weekend, February 2nd.”

UFC 156 will also feature the featherweight title bout between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar, and the light heavyweight clash between Rashad Evans against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

Henderson was supposed to challenge light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in UFC 151 before a knee injury forced him to bail out.

Henderson said the injury has been healed and that he has began working out.

"The knee is getting better. It feels a lot tighter than it was. That was the biggest thing, the stability. But, I just started training last week, and it's feeling good."
