San Sebastian College put up a superior defense against Far Eastern University’s top strikers as the Lady Stags posted a 25-20, 25-18, 25-17 win over the Lady Tams Sunday for solo third in the Shakey’s V-League second conference at The Arena in San Juan.

According to V-League.ph, the Lady Tamaraws fell short of their bid in each set, enabling the Lady Stags to score the one-hour sweep for their third win in four games.

“We played tough on defense. We have regained our old fighting form, particularly Jinni (Mondejar) and Lou Ann (Latigay)” said SSC coach Roger Gorayeb.

Rysabelle Devanadera, the league‘s top blocker, fired 14 hits, including 12 kills, while Latigay added 11 points, spiked with two service aces, as San Sebastian closed within pacesetting La Salle (4-1) and Adamson (4-2).

SSC also drew big games from its reinforcements as guest player Suzanne Roces and alumna Mondejar combined for 15 hits while Joy Benito tossed in eight points.

The loss dropped FEU to 2-3 for a share of fifth with comebacking Lyceum, behind the fourth-running University of Santo Tomas (2-1) in the league.
