Former foe Barrera visits Pacquiao in training
MANILA, Philippines – Retired Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera visited his former foe Manny Pacquiao at the latter’s training camp for an interview with the Filipino boxing icon.
Philboxing reported that the “Baby-Faced Assassin,” who now works as a commentator for Mexican TV Azteca, watched Pacquiao train at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles last Tuesday.
The Filipino boxer later gave Barrera time to conduct the interview.
Pacquiao even posted a photo of them on Twitter. The two looked like long-time friends instead of rivals.
In 2003, Pacquiao pulled off a stunning upset against the then more popular Barrera during their featherweight clash.
The Filipino totally outclassed the Mexican legend, prompting the latter’s corner to throw in the towel in the 11th round.
A fading Barrera later faced Pacquiao in a rematch for the World Boxing Council (WBC) international super featherweight title in 2007. Pacquiao won via a unanimous decision.
Barrera is a former three-time world champion and one of the most popular Mexican boxers.
Pacquiao is currently preparing for a fourth fight against his Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez.
