Four teams clash for UFL Cup final
MANILA, Philippines - Global FC clashes with Loyola Meralco Sparks while Green Archers United-Globe FC faces off with Stallion Penson FC in a pair of explosive semifinal matches tonight in the United Football League Cup at the Rizal Memorial football field.
Global edged Kaya, 2-1, on a game-winning goal by Misagh Bahadoran in the first extension to gain a spot in the Final Four while Loyola leaned on Mark Hartmann to ground Phl Army, 5-0, and stay in the title hunt.
Both Archers United and Stallion barged into the semis via shootouts with the former turning back Pachanga, 1-1 (4-3), and the latter repulsing All-Korean General Trias International FC, 0-0 (5-4).
The Global-Loyola match is set at 5:15 p.m. while the Archers-Stallion showdown is scheduled at 7:15 p.m. Both matches will be shown live on TV5’s AKTV on IBC 13.
Focus will be on Loyola, led by Phil and James Younghusband and Anton Gonzales while Global is led by Bahadoran, Jeffrey Christiaens, Carlos de Murga, Juan Luis Guirado, Demitrius Omphroy, Denis Wolf, Marvin and Marwin Angeles.
