NBA legends Barkley, Miller visit Pacquiao
LOS ANGELES, California – The Wild Card Gym was on lockdown Monday afternoon as Filipino fight king Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao was visited by basketball royalty.
NBA Hall-of-Famers turned TNT commentators Charles Barkley and Reggie Miller paid Pacquiao a visit during his training camp for his upcoming fight against Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez.
Miller joined Pacquiao during the boxer’s morning jog at Griffith Park. That same afternoon, Miller and Barkley filmed a special TNT segment with Pacquiao.
“Ayos naman, nasamahan ako sa jogging sa uamaga sa Griffith Park then nag-play kami, nag-laro kami ng basketball sandali and then nanood siya ng training ko,” Pacquiao related.
The special segment will show the Pacman teaching the basketball legends some of his own techniques inside the boxing ring.
“I taught him ‘yung mga combination sa boxing – jab, straight, hook, uppercut,” Pacquiao said.
Miller told TMZ that Pacquiao has “got game.”
“Not only is he the man in the ring, but he’s got an awesome jump shot, too,” the former Indiana Pacer said.
Pacquiao, an avid basketball fan, has had some run-ins with some of the game’s best over the years. He has held a sports clinic with Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra, while Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett and Ron Artest have all visited him at the Wild Card and watched him fight.
The special segment with Miller and Barkley will air within the next few weeks, as Pacquiao’s December 8 fight with Marquez draws near.
