Painters wary of skidding Boosters
MANILA, Philippines – Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said he expects a tough game when they meet the struggling Petron Blaze on Wednesday’s PBA Philippine Cup.
Guiao said that Petron may be on a 3-game slump, but that doesn't mean that the Boosters lacked the potential to win.
“Yes, they have injuries but they’re so deep that they can easily adapt to this situation,” said the Rain or Shine coach in PBA.ph.
“Also a team coming from a bad loss is always dangerous. More so a team like Petron that’s steeped in pride and tradition,” Guiao added.
Petron is currently tied with the Barako Bull Energy Cola at 8th place with a 3-6 win-loss mark.
The Elasto Painters, on the other hand, are in joint 2nd with San Mig Coffee Mixers at 6-2.
The Boosters have Junmar Fajardo, Danny Ildefonso and Dorian Pena in their injured list.
But with 3 straight loses to the Air21 Express, the Talk n Text Tropang Texters and the Meralco Bolts, Ildefonso has decided to forego surgery on his shoulder.
Petron coach Olsen Racela said they have no other option but to seek a win despite a depleted lineup.
“Laban pa rin,” said Racela.
“We expect a hard, close battle all the way to the end,” said Guiao.
