'Gintong Kamao' seeks KO win vs Mexican
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino super bantamweight Drian Francisco vowed to try his best to knock out Mexico’s Javier Gallo when they fight on the undercard of the Viloria-Marquez bout this weekend.
Francisco, nicknamed as “Gintong Kamao” or Golden Fist, said he will shoot for a stoppage win against the stocky Mexican.
However, he said he will also be careful of Gallo’s counter punches.
“I’d love to go for a knockout but we will be careful and protect myself from his punches because we don’t know what will happen,” Francisco said in a report by Philboxing’s Ronnie Nathanielsz.
Francisco said he is in excellent shape and will be having no problem in making the 122-pound limit.
The Filipino is currently training in Justine Fortune’s gym in Los Angeles.
“It’s cold here and we eat a lot of fruits and the heavier weight I can fight at, its better for me. I am really prepared for this fight and I want to put on a good show,” he said.
Francisco added that he is also studying Gallo’s moves by watching his tapes.
However, he admitted he may still have to adjust when he stands face-to-face with his opponent in the ring.
“Its easy to say you have a good plan but it's different once inside the ring,” he said.
