GSP wary of 'unpredictable' Condit
MANILA, Philippines – Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (GSP) said he would be cautious of Carlos Condit when they square off in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 154.
St-Pierre cited that Condit is can fight well either standing up or on the ground.
“Carlos Condit is a very difficult man. He has an equal number of knockout and submissions. He's very well rounded, very unpredictable,” St-Pierre said in Countdown to UFC 154.
Proof of Condit’s unpredictability is his unanimous decision win against Nick Diaz in UFC 143 last February.
When everyone though he would go toe-to-toe against Diaz, Condit controlled the distance and picked Diaz apart with accurate and effective strikes.
With the victory, Condit also walked away with the interim welterweight title.
He now has to battle St-Pierre this weekend in Montreal, Quebec to determine the undisputed UFC welterweight champion.
Condit said he refuses to underestimate St-Pierre who will be fighting for the first time since he suffered a knee injury.
“I'm not expecting him to slow down or something, then he comes out better than ever? And then what?” said Condit. “I'm definitely preparing for the best GSP.”
