Aussie boxing champ eyes Donaire, Broner
MANILA, Philippines – Australian featherweight Billy Dib revealed he wants to fight “Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire Jr. and undefeated American Adrien Broner someday.
Dib, whose International Boxing Federation (IBF) title defense versus Puerto Rico’s Jayson Velez was cancelled, said he hopes to get those fights soon.
"My number one target right now is Adrien Broner. I would love to fight him and someone like Nonito Donaire in the future,” he said in Boxing Scene.
Broner is scheduled to face Mexico’s Antonio de Marco for the World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight crown this weekend, while Donaire clashes against Jorge Arce to defend the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight title on December 15.
Meranwhile, Dib said he plans to keep training while he waits his next fight date.
"I'm a full-time athlete. I don't believe in breaks or off-seasons," Dib said.
"I'm dedicated to my sport. I have been working really hard on different things right now to improve my ring craft."
