MANILA, Philippines – If Filipino fighter Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is successful against Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8, then a bout against unbeaten brawler Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios may be next.

This is according to Pacquiao’s trainer, Hall-of-Famer Freddie Roach.

“We have to win this fight first, but Brandon Rios is next on the list,” Roach said in an interview with Boxing Scene. [http://www.boxingscene.com/roach-says-rios-on-pacquiaos-list-not-tim-bradley—59362]

Rios became a potential opponent for Pacquiao when he defeated Mike Alvarado in a seven-round war last October that became the top contender for Fight of the Year.

Rios, known for his brawling style and punching power, is confident that he has what it takes to not only beat Pacquiao but to knock him out.

“Pacquiao’s an in-and-out guy. But you know what? Like I always do, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. taught me very well: break the body down and the head will fall down,” he said in a RingTV interview.

“You see what happened with Mike Alvarado? I think I could do the same thing to them, too,” Rios claimed.

Roach also said that Pacquiao is most definitely not interested in a rematch against unbeaten American Timothy Bradley Jr.

Bradley controversially beat Pacquiao via split decision last June, in a fight many believe Pacquiao dominated.

“I don’t think that we need to do that, because everyone knows we won that fight. So we don’t have to fight him,” Roach said. “We don’t even count that as a loss.”

But before thinking of a potential fight against “Bam Bam,” Pacquiao will first have to take on Marquez for a fourth time.

“Manny was being a little compassionate, and he was getting a little soft,” Roach admitted. “We have to bring back the old Manny. If we come forward, we’ll probably win (against Marquez).”
