Memory athletes to hold exhibition in St. Scholastica

MANILA, Philippines – Memory athletes Roberto Racasa and Jamyla Lambunao will hold a memory exhibition on November 28 at the St. Scholastica's Academy in Marikina City.

“It’s a big honor for me to do memory exhibition along with my student Jamyla,” said Racasa, a former chess standout of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP).

Both Lambunao, an 11-year-old pupil of St. Scholastica, and Racasa are members of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO)-Mandaluyong-Bagong Henerasyon (BH) Philippine Memory Team.

The memory exhibition will be held to culminate the school’s English Month.

Meanwhile, Racasa made it known that he wants to earn a Grandmaster of Memory status when he competes in the 2012 World Memory Championships in December.

"I feel we have a real good chance of doing very well in this prestigious tournament. Saka pinaghandaan ko po talaga ito para sa pinakamimithing GM title," said Racasa,

Racasa is eyeing to follow the footsteps of his student First Filipino Grandmaster of Memory Mark Anthony Castaneda when he competes in the 2012 World 'Olympic" Memory Championship on December 14, 15 and 16 at the Lilian Baylis Technology School, 323 Kennington Lane in London, United Kingdom.

"I feel we have a real good chance of doing very well in this World 'Olympic' Memory Championship prestigious tournament."said Racasa, a double gold medalist in the last Mind Festival and 5th Thailand International Open Memory Championships at the Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand last July 7.

"Saka pinaghandaan ko po talaga ito para sa pinakamimithing GM title," added Racasa who topped the Historic and Future Dates event and Speed Cards competition in the Thailand Memory meet.

The 11-year-old Lambunao, on the other hand, a student of St. Scholastica's Academy Marikina, topped the kids event in the Thailand Memory meet. -Marlon Bernardino
