Arwind is PBA's Player of the Week
MANILA – Arwind Santos’ potential is there. And yet he is already a monster in the hard court.
Proof of this is his performances during San Miguel’s last two victories the past week.
According to PBA.ph, the 6-foot-4 Santos averaged a league-high 23.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists last week, helping the Beermen stretch their winning streak to 6 after a 0-2 start in the Philippine Cup.
“Everything is potential pa lang for him right now pero maganda na ang ipinapakita niya,” said San Miguel Beer coach Siot Tanquingcen of his dynamic forward, who is picked as the KFC/Accel-PBA Press Corps' Player of the Week for the period Nov. 8 to 14.
“If he's doing it right now pa lang, then what more if he takes on the other aspects of the game, like knowledge of the game, mga ganoon?” Tanquingcen said.
Aside from posting impressive stats in points, rebounds and assists, Santos also registered an average of 2 blocks and a steal last week. “He's something special,” Tanquingcen said.
He said that the things needing polishing in Santos’ game are shot selection and one-on-one defense.
Tanquingcen said Santos will become one irrepressible force should he get the hang of those departments.
“The good thing about it, kaya na niyang gawin,” said Tanquingcen.
