Burger King attempts to tarnish the unbeaten record of Harbour Centre as they collide in the 2009 PBL PG Flex Linoluem Cup at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig.
The BK Stunners, made of mostly NCAA champs San Beda College, clash at 4 p.m. in the second game of Satursday's triple-treat matches.
Pharex and Bacchus, meanwhile, face each other in the day's first game at 2 p.m. while Smart Sports-University of the Philippines-Xtreme RP Youth arrange a showdown in the women’s competition at 6 p.m.
Harbour coach Jorge Gallent said that the Batang Pier have an advantage over the Stunners in terms of manpower.
This, despite the expected absence of power forward Jerwin Gaco who is suffering from flu symptoms.
Gallent, howeverm said that Reed Juntilla may fill up the gap following the dismal showing in the last conference.
The 6-foot Juntilla led the team in its roller coaster 76-75 win over Magnolia Purewater on Wednesday by scoring a game-high 25 points to chart the third win for Batang Pier in as many games.
There's also ex-La Salle Archers Rico Maierhofer and Edwin Asoro and other players who are ready to shine.
Gallent said that playmaking chores have been entrusted to rookie Mark Barroca. He said that the freshman is showing great potential despite this being his first year.
“He’s playing like a veteran,” said team manager Erick Arejola. “Still, we have to play as a team since Burger King is a tough team. They have players with championships experience, too.”
BK mentor Allan Gregorio, meanwhile, is expected to trust the instincts and combined power of ex-San Beda Lions Ogie Menor, Borgie Hermina and JR Tecson and University of the East star Marcy Arellano.
