Manny Pacquiao has assured his family left behind in General Santos City that he will have the strength for good showing during the December 6 megabuck fight against Oscar de la Hoya in Las Vegas.

The World Boxing Council lightweight champ told his family, especially his mother Dionisia, that he can easily take on the bigger de la Hoya come fight night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The "People's Champ" made the assurance via telephone after receiving word that his family, particularly his mother, was "very much" worried, the boxer's uncle, Pacito Davedran, told local media.

Davedran said his nephew is well-prepared for the welterweight super bout despite climbing two weight divisions and adding some extra pounds.

Davedran said that Pacquiao told his mother to leave the fighting to him. The boxer, Davedran added, asked his mother to pray as she usually does whenever her son climbs up into the ring.
