MANILA, Philippines – Although both Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez are seeking to finish their fabled rivalry through a fourth fight, boxing promoter Bob Arum hasn’t ruled out a fifth encounter between the two boxers.

“There is a possibility. Not likely but a possibility,” the Top Rank CEO said during Pacquiao’s recent media conference call.

Arum said Pacquiao and Marquez are so evenly matched that their rivalry has given fight fans three thrilling bouts.

This is also the reason, he said, that there is a chance that the two might clash again in the future.

The promoter compared the intense competition between Pacquiao and Marquez to the rivalry between two boxing greats in the 1950s.

“[“Sugar Ray] Robinson and [Jake] LaMotta fought six times,” Arum pointed out.

Pacquiao scored three first-round knockdowns against Marquez during their first meeting in 2004 even if the bout ended in a controversial draw.

This was followed by two more close fights in 2008 and 2011, which were both won on points by the Filipino champion.

Arum said both Pacquiao and Marquez will be seeking a decisive win when they meet for the fourth time on Decemeber 8.

“Both of them will be looking for different strategies this time so that the winner will be more conclusive. That’s what they are saying – each of them will be more aggressive and each of them will be taking the fight to the other,” he said.
