MANILA – Johnny Arcilla and Czarina Mae Arevalo cemented their dominance in the Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open after toppling their opponents in the finals held at the PCA courts in Manila Sunday.

Arcilla’s 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 win over Mark Reyes gave him his fourth straight PCA Open title. He received P100,000, The Philippine Star reported.

En route to the final, Arcilla defeated Nick Magaway, Nino Salvador, Kim Ivor Saraza, Rocky Paglalunan and Francis Casey Alcantara, according to the PCA official website.

Arcilla, however, failed in his bid for the men’s doubles crown alongside Patrick John Tierro.

Arcilla and Tierro were beaten by the pair of Alcantara and Ronald Joven, 7-6 (2), 6-2.

In the ladies’ side, Arevalo clinched both the singles and doubles titles.

She won her fifth PCA championship after overwhelming Anna Christine Patrimonio, 6-2, 6-3. Her previous title victories took place in 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2007. She took home P50,000.

Arevalo got past Samantha Coyiuto, Aileen Rogan and Anna Clarice Patrominio to reach the finals.

She also triumphed in the ladies’ doubles final where she and Jennifer Saret trumped Trudy Amorano and Jonicka Guba, 6-4, 6-2. – With a report from Joey Villar, The Philippine Star
