OAKLAND, California – Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson has pneumonia and won't travel with the team for two NBA games in Texas.
The 69-year-old missed practice on Sunday and again on Monday. The team said he had been diagnosed with pneumonia and would miss the Warriors' games on Tuesday at Dallas and on Wednesday at San Antonio.
The Warriors host the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday.
The Warriors, whose playoff run in 2007 is the club's only postseason trip since 1994, ended a three-game losing streak and improved to 4-8 with a 108-94 home victory over Portland on Friday night.
Nelson, the second-winningest coach in NBA history, said in September he plans to fulfill the remaining two years on his contract.
